Muffin's Halo: An Heaven Sent Device For Blind Dogs! Jul 24th 2013, 11:57

Blindness is an everyday challenge, for pets and humans alike. Blind people use walking sticks and we train assistance dogs to help them but how do we assist blind pets? They can't use their hands to feel what surrounding them, and they obviously can't use sticks, they'd rather play with them! Sadly many people put their pets to sleep when blindness becomes too much of a challenge, because they can't find a solution.

Muffin's Halo, a new patent pending device, is a great aid to help dogs become familiar with existing or new surroundings, quickly. This product is heaven sent for dog parents dealing with this widespread issue.

Silvie Bordeaux is the proud mom of Muffin, a 12 year old toy poodle who lost his sight due to cataract. Muffin had the hardest time adapting to this disability; he would keep bumping into walls, and falling down the stairs. Poor Muffin became depressed and immobile. His mom Silvie couldn’t see him like that and decided to find a solution to Muffin's new dilemma. After doing some extensive research, she realized there is a great need for products to assist blind dogs, and created Muffin's Halo. The halo is a custom designed product with a silver hoop that sits around the dog's head and protects him from walls and other objects, as their own little personal warning system. Lightweight and comfortable, it adjusts with Velcro straps fits dogs easily. It has soft angels wing protect the dog's neck and shoulder area. This device does not bother dogs during their daily activities, including sleeping, and make them look like little angels!

"It's a safeguard for them," says Bordeaux. "Muffin went from shaking and scared back to confident. A lot of pet parents put their blind dogs down and there's no need for that."

Muffin's Halo was launched at Super Zoo 2012 in Las Vegas, NV, is manufactured in the US and sells from $89.95.

“This product is a revolutionary invention that will change and save the lives of many dogs who have lost their vision! It’s a brilliant solution that provides safety and comfort for blind/visually impaired dogs to enjoy their lives and live as normal as possible, without their sight. Muffin’s Halo is heaven sent for dog owners dealing with this widespread issue,” says Laura Ballegeer, owner of blind dogs.
